New reports from Digitimes indicate that Apple is preparing to launch new MacBook Pro models at the end of the third quarter, possibly alongside the iPhone 13.

Digitimes says new suppliers have entered the supply chain for new MacBook Pro models, which it says will feature mini LEDs like the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Digitimes says new suppliers will increase their shipments from the third quarter:

Zhen Ding, among suppliers of miniLED backlight cards for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro launched in April this year, will complete its second-phase investment in expanding the capacity of these cards in the third quarter to better meet at the request of the next 14 months. Both inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro devices are expected to launch in late Q3 2021, the sources said.

A report further states that Tripod, another supplier “will be able to start production of miniLED backlight boards for the new MacBook Pro series in the third quarter as planned.”

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said on Sunday that there would be no Apple events or announcements until the iPhone 13 launched in September. These combined reports seem to indicate with great certainty that we can expect new MacBook Pro models to debut alongside the iPhone 13.

The new Macs are expected to feature a new generation of Apple silicon, as well as a return of certain ports like the SD card slot and HDMI, as well as a return of MagSafe charging. With the return of all of these “pro” features, the new MacBooks promise to be the best MacBooks in recent memory.
