Here’s how to show digital proof of COVID-19 vaccination – NBC Chicago

Since Jan. 3, people must provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination to enter indoor public places in Chicago and suburban Cook County.

When it comes to providing proof of vaccination, you can show your vaccination card in person, but showing digital proof is a common alternative.

Apple and Android, as well as the State of Illinois, are all trying to make the process as easy as possible.

Here’s how to add your information broken down by the different digital options:

  1. You must have a QR code or a downloadable file of your vaccination record to begin. Your iPhone should also be updated to iOS 15.1 software.
  2. If you have a QR code, open the camera app and hold it over the code. When a Health app notification appears, tap and select “Add to Wallet & Health”
  3. Using a downloadable file, open it on your phone and tap the download link. Then select “Add to Wallet & Health”
  1. Visit your health care provider’s website, app, email, or text message.
  2. Find your COVID-19 vaccination or test information.
  3. Find and tap “Save to Phone”. If asked if you want to save with Chrome or Google Pay, choose Google Pay even if you don’t have the app.
  4. Press “Continue”.
  5. To add your COVID card to your device, read the consent information and press “I Accept.” You will be asked if you want to add an icon to your home screen.

It’s recommended to create a shortcut, so you can find your COVID map more easily, according to Google’s website.

Residents who enroll through the Illinois Department of Public Health’s “Vax Verify” vaccination portal have the option of using a “SMART Health Card.”

The card, which has also been introduced in several other states, is a digital version of its COVID vaccination history and allows users to upload a QR code to confirm their status.

Entrants have the option of printing the QR code, downloading it to their phone, or storing it in Apple Wallet or an app via the Google Play Store.

Illinois residents can register through the “Vax Verify” portal here.

You can also opt for a private app, like Clear Health Pass or VaxYes. The easiest alternative may be to keep a photo of your vaccination record on your phone.
