Fuzzy and fluffy frills, made for dressing up
Usually fuzzy, fluffy textures can suggest hibernation, but this season designers have used them as an altogether more flamboyant gesture – arriving in intense retina-burning hues or as a lavish, unexpected embellishment.
At Prada, colorful faux fur panels spring from the elbow and hem of elegant double-breasted jackets – an unmistakable suggestion of opulence in a collection that co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons say is all about the “process of defining the meaning of beauty, for today”.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele has long used faux fur flourishes in his lavishly designed collections. for A/W22, intarsia capes wrap the body – with bright pops of color – while fur cuffs and trims adorn the house’s collab with Adidas. Befitting the lavish ambience, the collection is titled “Exquisite Gucci”.
A range of fuzzy accessories give a playful climax to the season’s looks – at Dolce & Gabbana an oversized fur tote bag comes in canary yellow, while Matthieu Blazy’s debut collection at Bottega Veneta includes a heel Dizzying platform, boldly wrapped in fluorescent orange faux fur.
