“Alor Noksha”, a photo exhibition by M Shahadat Hossain Kiron and presented by lifestyle brand QRIUS, is ongoing at Qrius Gallery in Banani 11 from February 15. The event exhibits 122 photos highlighting an intimate closeness to nature.

“The only inspiration is to show people and share my feelings, to capture those feelings and bring them together,” Ms. Shahadat Hossain Kiron said when asked about his inspiration behind the photos. He has in his collection more than 10,000 photos, taken in various countries and in Bangladesh. Launching his business in 1972, Mr. Shahadat Hossain Kiron also immersed himself in his passion for photography which is evident from his photo collection. We can see the thread he has for the nature that surrounds us. Capturing multi-dimensional moments on camera to enliven the variety of naturalness is a recurring theme in his photography. A successful industrialist with an obviously busy life, he still took the time to follow what nature has to offer and combined that with his passion for photography.

M Shahadat Hossain Kiron’s photos have an appreciation for nature that captures its pristine form. The 122 photos are displayed in groups of two to three photos in 43 frames, with titles like ‘Shristir bhumika’, ‘Kothin komol’, ‘Shironamhin’ headlining each frame. The wide variety of aesthetic compositions and the colorful presence of birds, flowers, sculptures and other elements can be seen in the photos.

In keeping with the theme of the event, the Qrius Gallery was decorated with potted trees, drawing a parallel with the photos in the nature-themed exhibition. The gallery also had frames featuring award-winning photographs from around the world, a brief history of photography in Bangladesh, quotes from famous photographers around the world, an exhibit on the evolution of cameras through time, and a curated collection of vintage cameras by Bashir Ahmed Sujan, a photographer himself.

The exhibition was opened by three renowned photographers from the country: Munem Wasif, documentary photographer who currently teaches at the Pathshala South Asian Media Academy and winner of prizes such as the Prix Pictet; Shafiqul Alam Kiron, co-founder of Map Photo Agency and two-time World Press Photo award winner; and Joy K Roy Chowdhury, founding member and president of the Narayanganj Photographic Club. Famous designer and researcher of traditional crafts, Chandra Shekhar Shaha is the curator of the exhibition.
